Our Favorite Places – The Grand Palace

The Grand Palace

Something you may not know about Thai women is that they generally admire men who are caring, sensitive and responsible. Wait a minute... that’s what all women want! What you really need to know is how to show your affections to the girl you meet at Thai Lady Dating. The occasional small gift such as a souvenir from one of your dates is always welcomed, but one thing you can do to make a lasting impression is to make merit at a local temple with your Thai sweetheart to show that you respect her culture. You can make merit by bringing offerings to a temple such as the Grand Palace, one of the city's most famous landmarks.

There are a few rules you need to know before entering the grounds of a temple, but don’t worry if you forget the following list of do’s and don’ts because your Thai date understands that you come from a different background and like most Thais, she will forgive you for any social indiscretion before you even realize it.

DO:

  • Respect all images of Buddha.
  • Dress properly when visiting a temple. Men must wear long pants and shirts with sleeves. If you're wearing sandals or flip-flops you must wear socks. Do not wear all black.
  • Remove your shoes before entering a temple.
  • Treat monks with the highest respect.
  • Try to maintain the peace and serenity of the temple by keeping calm at all times.
  • Lower your body slightly when passing other people

DON’T:

  • Cross your legs in the presence of a monk.
  • Show public displays of affection in public, especially inside temple grounds.
  • Take Buddha images out of the country. It is against the law to take or send Buddha images out of the country without special permission.

With a history that dates back to 1782, the spectacular Grand Palace will leave you in awe of its beautiful architecture. I’m sure your date will proudly point out the intricate details of Thailand's most sacred site, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha which is a stunning example of the creativity and craftsmanship of her people.

Lastly, I want to leave you with a Buddhist quote to inspire you on your journey to finding love in Thailand: "Even offering three hundred bowls of food three times a day does not match the spiritual merit gained in one moment of love” - Nagarjuna
